2024 第十九屆學生景觀設計競圖

In recent years, the world has faced various challenges, from climate change and biodiversity loss to social injustice and disease outbreaks. In this context, there is an urgent need to find ways to protect and sustain the survival and prosperity of all life on Earth. This is the essence of "Sustaining Life for All." "Sustaining Life" goes beyond focusing solely on human survival and development; it also encompasses the natural environments of plants, animals, and other living organisms. This means that we must seek and implement sustainable solutions to maintain the ecological balance and biodiversity of our planet, transforming "sustainability" from a mere noun into an actionable verb. At the same time, we must recognize that sustainable coexistence is an inclusive concept. These sustainable actions should consider the interests and needs of all people, all communities, and all living beings. This is the meaning behind "For All."

Therefore, this year's competition theme, "Sustaining Life for All," aims to encourage participants to think about how landscape design can achieve the goal of sustainable coexistence. We look forward to seeing participants propose innovative design solutions that not only meet people's living needs but also protect the natural environment, achieving the harmonious coexistence of ecology and humanity.

2024 The 19th National Student Landscape Design Competition-All prizes

The 2024 National Student Landscape Design Competition, organized by the Chinese Society of Landscape Architects, marks its 19th edition this year. In an ever-changing environment, this annual competition consistently integrates contemporary environmental and current event issues to craft themes that meet the needs of our times. This provides a platform for landscape design students and faculty across the nation to collaborate, exchange ideas, and inspire creativity, fostering reflection within the landscape architecture community on contemporary issues and stimulating innovative thinking. This year's competition theme, "Sustaining Life for All," aims to encourage participants to explore how landscape design can promote sustainable development and the concept of coexistence. The goal is to emphasize the importance of sustainability and its practical implementation.
In recent years, we have witnessed environmental crises and social challenges across the globe, ranging from climate change and biodiversity loss to the COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts. In this context, there is an urgent need to seek sustainable and symbiotic solutions to protect the stability of Earth's ecosystems and promote harmonious development in human society. In 2015, the United Nations announced the "2030 Sustainable Development Goals" (SDGs), which include 17 targets such as eradicating poverty, mitigating climate change, and promoting gender equality, guiding global efforts toward sustainability. Additionally, there has been a growing international advocacy for nature-based solutions, which leverage natural systems and biodiversity to address various societal challenges, including climate change, water security, food security, public health, disaster risk reduction, and economic and social development. By restoring ecosystem functions, these nature-based solutions not only provide environmental protection but also offer numerous benefits to human society, such as improving air and water quality, increasing urban green spaces, and enhancing resilience to natural disasters, achieving the essence of coexistence. Therefore, this competition aims to encourage participants to consider how to implement the concept of sustainable coexistence in landscape design. From urban to rural areas, and from public spaces to private domains, participants will have the opportunity to propose innovative design solutions that meet people's living needs while protecting the natural environment, ultimately realizing the goal of coexistence.
